Valerie A. Prentiss, Pediatric Nurse Practitioner, is a native of Miami, Florida. She completed her undergraduate studies at The University of Miami where she obtained a Bachelor’s of Science in Nursing and minored in exercise physiology. Valerie began her nursing career locally, caring for children in the Pediatric Intensive Care Unit at Baptist Children’s Hospital. After gaining experience serving as a nurse to critically ill children, she completed her graduate studies at the University of South Alabama where she received extensive clinical training and became board certified as a Pediatric Nurse Practitioner.
Since beginning her career as a pediatric nurse practitioner, Valerie has worked with and gained expertise in a variety of pediatric care specialties, including pediatric surgery and pediatric emergency medicine. Through both professional and personal experience caring for her own child with special needs, Valerie has become highly skilled in the area of childhood development and neurology.
Valerie resides in Miami with her husband Evan and two daughters. Valerie’s greatest passions are her faith, her family, and promoting health and wellbeing in her community. When not taking care of patients, Valerie enjoys reading, exercising, and having fun outdoors with her family. She brings her love of pediatric medicine and nurturing nature to Sunset Pediatrics.
